On 15-18 June 2025, the UITP welcomed over 10,000 public transport registered professionals from 108 countries. The yearly UITP Summit is the world’s most important public transport event, covering all public transport modes. There were 373 speakers across 82 sessions from 50+ countries (in majority from Asia-Pacific, Middle-East and the Americas).

UITP is recognised worldwide for achieving a global network of all public transport authorities and operators of mobility. Founded by Belgian King Leopold II in 1885 to promote rail transport, it presently has 19.500 members. Its headquaters are in Brussels (ca. 100 staff) and it maintains 16 offices around the globe. It is THE worldwide think-thank in urban and regional sustainable mobility. The Secretary General of UITP is Mohamed Mezghani since 2018.

His three predecessors were Alain Flausch (2011-2017), Hans Rat (1999-2011) and Pierre Laconte (1984-1999).

The UITP Summit 2025 brought the world’s public transport community to Hamburg, making it the gathering place to showcase the mobility sector’s latest innovations, newest technologies, and most forward-thinking projects. The next UITP Summit will take place in Dubai in 2026.
